Our latest study reveals that 97% of UK adults admit to snacking between meals. With the UK now labelled as the most obese country in Europe, insight into the dietary preferences of the population shows a trend toward junk food over healthier snacks, with almost half of UK adults (45%) most likely to opt for crisps or chocolate while just 14% choose fruit as a first choice to top up their calorie intake.

  • 54% wish they could alter their habits to either stop, cut down or condition make healthier snacking choices.
  • Londoners admitted to snacking the most with 30% claiming to snack at least three times a day compared to those in the South East where just 9% snacked so frequently.
  • While adults may lack the willpower to shun the sugary foods, 62% said they would always choose fruit as a first choice snack for their children.
  • 83% of adults say they need for better education on what to feed children.
